Freighter Runs Aground

A freighter that ran aground in the Elizabeth River is moving again.
The Coast Guard says the 590-foot ship became stuck in the river Wednesday evening near Portsmouth Naval Medical Center. The freighter is carrying soybeans.
The Virginian-Pilot reports that tugboats freed the freighter early Thursday morning.
There were no reports of injuries. The Coast Guard now will investigate how the freighter ran aground and inspect the hull to ensure that it’s sound.
