Water Meeting Set For Saturday In Deltaville

More than 50 people showed up recently to hear about a proposed plan to bring a central water system to the Deltaville area during a Middlesex Water Authority meeting at the Deltaville Maritime Museum. They learned that the Middlesex Water Authority is offering an incentive to connect. Residents and businesses that commit to hooking onto the system by August 31st, will pay a connection fee of $5,000. After that deadline however, the connection fee increases to $10,000. If you want to connect, you must pay 10% ($500) of this connection fee by the August 31 deadline. As of June 22, 48 property owners had plunked down the $500 deposit. The Deltaville water service area has about 3,100 properties, and the system needs to be “self-sustaining” without help from Middlesex County government in order to move forward. Officials say they need to have a count on just how many are going to connect before they build it. The final informational meeting will be held at the Deltaville Firehouse tomorrow [Saturday June 27] at 10 a.m.
