An investigation is underway in a fatal collision that happened Monday in Mathews County. According to Virginia State Police it happened on the John Clayton Highway when a driver tried to pass another vehicle on a curve that was marked as a no-passing zone. The driver hit a minivan driven by 75-year-old Franklin Williams Jr. of Gloucester and he was killed on impact. A passenger in the minivan and the other driver suffered life-threatening injuries.
