Richmond County lawmakers won’t be imposing a county-wide cigarette tax which was authorized by state lawmakers last year. The Northern Neck News reports the county is considering joining an effort to create a regional taxing board which would include the Northern Neck counties plus King George County. The board would allow for central management of obtaining tax stamps but would not set individual county tax rates which can be as high as 40 cents a pack.
