A slap in the face. That’s how Governor Ralph Northam characterized the decision by FEMA not to reimburse the commonwealth for the National Guard troops sent to the U.S. Capitol following the Jan. 6 insurrection. Northam blamed the decision on former President Donald Trump saying he was the one who incited the incident and won’t help pay for the efforts to stop it. Maryland was also denied reimbursement and both states plan to appeal the decision.
