The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors as approved a plan to improve Hummel Field airport in Topping. The plan would lengthen Hummel’s runway and align it slightly so planes would not fly over houses. According to the Rappahannock Record a draft airport layout plan has been sent to the Virginia Department of Aviation and there will be no cost to the county.
