Governor Ralph Northam announces new goals for increasing the discretionary spending percentage with the commonweath’s small, women-owned, and minority-owned businesses. Northam cited a recently-completed disparity study which he says shows Virginia has significant work to do to maximize the participation of woman- and minority-owned businesses in state contract work, The governor set goals of 23.1 percent discretionary spending with woman- and minority-owned businesses and 42 percent with certified small, women-owned, and minority-owned businesses.Legislation is working through the General Assembly.
