Poll Finds Virginians Favor Legalizing Pot And Ending Death Penalty

A poll released Tuesday by the Wason Center for Public Policy at Christopher Newport University finds 5 in 10 Virginians support repealing the death penalty and eliminating mandatory minimum sentences for some offenses. 6 in 10 respondents think the commonwealth should legalize marijuana while nearly 9 in 10 feel employers should provide paid sick leave. Respondents also want lawmakers to increase spending for health care, education, economic development and social services such as food and housing aid.
