The statewide burn ban will go into effect on Monday (February 15). The ban on open air burning before 4 p.m. will be in-effect through April 30 and applies to all open air burning that occurs within 300 feet of woodland. Fire officials say the dangers of fires spreading during this time frame are due to higher winds, lower relative humidity and extremely dry fuels on the forest floor.
