The Virginia General Assembly forms the Asian American and Pacific Islander Caucus. Lawmakers say it is in response to a recent string of hate crimes against Asian Americans including the shootings at spas in Georgia earlier this month that left eight people dead including six Asian women. The group plans to hold virtual meetings next month with the goal of developing priorities for legislation to be introduced during the 2022 GA session.
