GC School Board Questions Revenue Reallocation Legality

The Gloucester County School Board is seeking advice from Virginia Attorney General Mark Herring on the county’s allocation of a 1% sales tax increase that voters approved last November. The Gazette Journal reports the issue centers on using the tax to pay off debt for completed and current projects while it was the board’s understanding the money was to go to future projects. The reallocation is in the county’s budget proposal and the board is questioning the legality of that move.
