Gov. Ralph Northam signs legislation creating tuition-free community college for low and middle-income students to earn degrees in high-demand fields such as health care, information technology, skilled trades and public safety. The $36 million “Get Skilled, Get a Job, Give Back” initiative covers tuition, fees, and books plus provides wraparound support for eligible students. Schools will also receive payment for each student that successfully completes 30 credit hours and an additional payment when the student earns an associate degree.
