Northumberland County now has a Community Liaison and Advisory Council created through a partnership between the Northumberland County Sheriff’s Office, the Northumberland NAACP and Interracial Conversations of Lancaster and Northumberland Counties. According to the Northern Neck News the council will address citizen concerns about police activities and build bridges of respect, trust and transparency between citizens and the Sheriff’s Office. One of the Council’s goals is to encourage a more proactive community policing program.
