A National Park Service grant is awarded to Preservation Mathews, Inc. to complete an application to get the Gwynn’s Island Historic District on the National Register of Historic Places. The Gazette Journal reports the grant was made available to localities affected following Hurricanes Michael and Florence in 2018. The application process includes a architectural survey for the entirety of the District. There’s been no set dollar amount for the grant and the project will be put out to bid.
