Short-term rental housing is coming under scrutiny by more local governments. The Northen Neck News reports Richmond County is looking into enacting an ordinance on the Airbnb-style operations to make sure neighborhoods don’t get disrupted and provide a means to get problems resolved. Irvington is looking into a similar ordinance and in Lancaster County enforcement efforts of a 2018 ordinance requring a $50 annual fee are stepping up due to lawmakers going directly to the short-term rental companies telling them to collect the revenue from operators.
