Simple Marijuana Possession Could Be Legal In July

Virginians may be allowed to legally possess marijuana as soon as this July under legislation being worked on by the General Assembly. House Speaker Eileen Filler-Corn tweeted that work is underway to amend a bill allowing simple possession that passed in February so it would take effect this summer instead of in 2024. Simple possession means an ounce or less. There’s been no official word from the Governor’s office on the changes but published reports say he supports moving up the date.
