Va. Reports COVID-19 Cases With New Variants

The Virginia Department of Health reports two additional COVID-19 variants first appearing in Califormia have been found in samples collected from residents here between December 2020 and February 2021. Officials say the two are associated with increased person-to-person transmission but there is no evidence the variants cause more severe disease. There are also cases involving the earlier-identified South African and United Kingdom variants and experts say there will likely be additional variants identified in the future.
