Va. Unemployment Drops In Feb.

Virginia’s unemployment rate fell to 5.2% in February, which is 2.7% above the rate from one year ago. Virginia’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate continues to be below the national rate of 6.2%. In February, the private sector recorded an over-the-year loss of 161,600 jobs,while employment in the public sector lost 35,700 jobs. The largest over-the-year job losses occurred in the leisure and hospitality industry followed by government then education and health services.
