VEC Extendw COVID-19 Unemployment Benefits

The Virginia Employment Commission extends the pandemic unemployment insurance program until Sept. 4 after additional federal funding was authorized. The benefits were set to expire on March 14. The VEC said people will automatically be enrolled into the program they’re already in and do not need to contact the commission. Those receiving benefits should continue to file their weekly claim for as long as they remain unemployed.
