A truck-pedestrian accident Wednesday in a work zone on Weems Road takes the life of a man from Blackstone. Police say Michael Paynter was in the 1700 block of Weems when he was struck by a road construction worker backing up a heavy-duty truck. Paynter was hospitalized but later passed away. No other injuries were reported and the accident is under investigation by Virginia State Police.
