Lancaster County vehicle owners may be paying more in property tax to fund upgrades to broadband internet service. The Rappahannock Record reports the board unanimously approved a motion to raise the vehicle property tax from $2.04 per $100 to $3.75. The additional tax could also be used to cover increase health insurance costs and to cover the gap if a lower land use tax evaluation is approved for forested land. The board voted not to increase the real estate tax.
