Minimum wage workers in Virginia get a pay raise on Saturday. The legislation to raise the hourly minimum wage from $7.25 to $9.50 was to take effect on Jan. 1
but Governor Ralph Northam amended the bill to delay the first increase to give employers an additional four months to recover from the economic impact of the pandemic. Virginia will increase the minimum wage to $11.00 an hour starting in Jan. 2022 on the way to making it $15.00 on Jan. 1, 2026.
