A Gloucester County forest fire on Sunday resulted in crews rescuing wildlife from the area. Authorities with Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue say it happened off Zach Road and members of their department helped rescue the wildlife. Personnel from the Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue Squad along with the Virginia Department of Forestry also responded. The fire covered several acres and was brought under control around 3:00 p.m.
