Northam Declares State Of Emergency From Colonial Pipeline Shutdown

Governor Ralph Northam declared a state of emergency due to the Colonial Pipeline shutdown resulting from a cyberattack. The pipeline from Texas to New York is the commonwealth’s primary source for many gas retailers. It can carry 100 million gallons of fuel per day and shut down on May 7. Northam says he made the declaration to help prepare for and respond to any fuel supply shortages. Pipeline officials say it could be back online by the weekend.
