Unemployment Job Search Requirement Kicks Back In On June 1

If you’re collecting unemployment benefits – starting next Tuesday you will again be required to show you’re looking for work. Governor Ralph Northam waived the work search requirement at the beginning of COVID-19. VEC officials say claimants will need to prove they’ve applied for at least two jobs per week to continue receiving benefits and those submissions will be audited to make sure people are applying for positions in line with their qualifications.
