Virginia COVID-19 Vaccine Coordinator Dr. Danny Avula announced that the commonwealth could begin vaccinating 12 – to 16-year-olds as soon as early next week. Avula says that action is depending on the Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control okaying the Pfizer vaccine for that age group. Pfizer is currently approved for 16- and 17-year-olds. The company completed a trial for 12 and older in March and determined the vaccine is safe.
