Virginia Unemployment Drops In April

Virginia’s April unemployment rate fell 0.4-percentage points to 4.7 % which continues to be below the national rate, which rose to 6.1%. Fivernior Ralph Northam says more people are working, businesses are hiring, and the economy is getting even stronger as more and more Virginians receive their COVID-19 vaccines. There were 2,400 new non-farm jobs added last month and the labor force decreased by close to 12,500 while the number of employed ndividuals went up by nearly 4,700.
