Sports betting in Virginia declined in April from a month earlier marking the first month-on-month decline since gambling was legalized in January. But even though there were fewer wagers it was a good month for the commonwealth as officials say tax revenues rose from from $1.2 million in March to $1.7 million in April. Sports book analysts say Virginia could become the fastest state to top a billion dollars in wagering since launch if May’s betting tops $135 million.
