Colonial Beach Historic District Gets Landmark Status

The Colonial Beach Commercial Historic District in Westmoreland County is named by the Virginia Board of Historic Resources to the commonwealth’s Landmarks Register. According to Northern Neck News the district is one of 9 places added to the register during the Board’s recent meeting. The district’s 81 buildings capture the business center of a fully planned resort along the lower Potomac River which was conceived as a riverside playground for visitors mostly from Washington D.C.
