Essex County has a new noise ordinance after the Board of Supervisors held a public hearing on Tuesday. The ordinance makes it illegal to produce a sound which can be heard from 50 feet or more from the source and forbids any lound noise between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 8:00 a.m. Exemptions include special events, lawful discharge of firearms or noise generated by emergency personnel in the provision of providing emergency services.
