Gloucester’s Juneteenth celebration takes place Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the First United Baptist Church,on George Washington Memorial Highway. According to the Gazette Journal the theme of this year’s event is “CommUNITY & Culture…History & Heritage”. The event will be held rain or shine outdoors on the church grounds. Juneteenth commemorates the day that the last enslaved people in the Confederate states were informed that they had been emancipated.
