A student pilot made an emergency landing Monday in the water near Horn Harbor. According to the Southside Sentinel it happened Monday about two miles southwest of Wolf Trap Lighthouse. Police say the pilot was trying to perform a simulated instrument approach to Tangier Island when the engine quit. The pilot and instructor were rescued by a Virginia Institute of Marine Science crew and they reported the two suffered minor injuries.
