Tasppahannock Votes To Take Down Confederate Monument

The Tappahannock Town Council unanimously decides to take down the Confederate monument on Prince St. According to the Free-Lance Star the plaque with names of Essex soldiers will remain in place but will be augmented with background on the Civil War and equal rights. It was a year ago when the Council was asked to pull down the monument. Lawmakers now need to find a place which is willing to take the monument and that needs to be done by mid-July.
