10 People Killed In Crashes Over Independence Day Weekend

Virginia State Police say 10 people were killed in accidents over the Independence Day weekend including a crash in Essex County involving a motorcyclist. In 2020 9 people died during the same statistical counting period. Troopers wrote over 4,000 speeding tickets and more than 500 seat belt violation citations. Around 60 drunk drivers were taken into custody which was about 15 more than in 2020. Troopers also helped more than 1500 disabled vehicle owners.
