The Virginia Health Department’s Office of Drinking Water announced that Gloucester County’s Water Treatment Plant has received back-to-back performance awards for 2019 and 2020. The plant was awarded Gold Water Treatment Performance Awards for Excellence in Clarification, Filtration and Backwash. According to VDH the award-winning treatment plants produce water that is at least three times cleaner than required by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The awards also recognize the workers who demonstrate excellence in their day-to-day operations.
