Northam Proposes $500M To Improve Air Handling In Schools

Governor Ralph Northam wants to spend a half-billion dollars to improve air quality in schools. Northam’s proposal would use federal COVID-19 relief funding to pay for the upgrades which he says will help reduce the presence of COVID-19 in the air. According to a Virignia Department of Education survey 62% of school dividions have completed at least one air handling renovation since March 2020 while 12% had no planned HVAC projects in response to COVID-19.
