Virginia’s Unemployment Rate Dropped Again, Falling to 4.3 Percent in June

Virginia’s unemployment rate dropped to 4.3% in June. The commonwealth had the 4th-lowest seasonally adjusted unemployment rate among the Southeast states behind Alabama, Oklahoma, and Georgia. The Virginia Employment Commission reports closed to 9,800 residents found work last month making the total number employed just over 4 million. Most new jobs came in the leisure and hospitality sector followed by trade and transportation then professional and business services.
