2 people from Mathews County take plea deals for their role in the Jan. 6 U.S. Capitol riots. Federal prosecutors say Cindy Fitchett of Cobbs Creek and and Douglas Sweet of Mathews pleaded guilty to parading, demonstrating or picketing in a Capitol building. Each could be in jail for up to 6 months when they’re sentenced in November. Officials say so far more than 35 people charged in the incident have taken plea deals.
