Eagle Injured In May Tornado Back In The Wild

An eagle injured during last May’s storms in Northumberland County is back in the wild. According to the Free-Lance Star the eagle was released on Friday at Fones Cliffs on the Rappahannock River. Wildlife Center of Virginia officials say the female was toppled from her nest when a tornado touched down. The young eagle hadn’t fledged before the tornado hit but learned to fly alongside mature eagles in a flight cage at the center.
