GA Starts Special Session Today

The General Assembly convenes today for its special session which is also the first in-person gathering since COVID-19. The major agenda item is deciding how to spend the $4.3 billion in federal money from the American Rescue Plan. Gov. Ralph Northam made several proposals including upgrading air handling in schools, provide assistance to small businesses and shoring up the commonwealth’s unemployment trust fund. An exact session duration hasn’t been established.
