We’re beginning to learn the impact that virtual learning has had on Virginia’s Standards of Learning test scores. Virginia Department of Education reports for the 2020-2021 school year, 69% of students passed in reading, 54% passed in mathematics and 59% in science. In 2018-2019, the last time SOL tests were taken Virginia had pass rates of 78% in reading, 82% in math and 81% in science. Officials say there were fewer students taking tests and if a student opted out it counted as a failed test.
