Virginia’s Joint Legislative Audit and Review Commission issues a report following a review of the Virginia Employment Commission that determined the agency wasn’t able to handle the large increase in jobless claims during COVID-19 and it was slow to implement improvements. According to News 8 the review found the commission was operating with information technology from the mid-1980s making it harder for staff to process claims. VEC officials say a modernized system is to go online Oct. 1.
