Northumberland County is applying for a grant to deploy wireless internet service in an area of Route 200 between Burgess to Kilmarnock. The Rappahannock Record reports the Board of Supervisors approved a $521,000 proposal from Broadband Telecom Services with 80-% of that paid by a Virginia Telecommunications Initiative grant and the rest covered by BTS and the county. The area is not being served by a fiber optic network being deployed by Dominion Energy, Northern Neck Electric Cooperative and All Points Broadband.
