A poll of Virginia voters finds the governor’s race is nearly tied. The survey by Emerson College and 8 News found 49% support former governor Terry McAuliffe while 45% are behind Glenn Youngkin. The error margin is plus-or-minus 3.4%. This survey mirrored the results of an August poll conducted by Virginia Commonwealth University. The candidates sparred Thursday in their first debate of the campaign. Early voting begins today.
