Shooting Shuts Down Essex High Football Game

Friday’s football game at Essex High School goes into lockdown after shots were fired during a fight. Police say the skirmish began outside the school’s ticket booth and moved into a parking lot where 2 sheriff’s deputies were assaulted. They were treated for minor injuries. The shots were fired from a SUV and a car with spectators and players diving for cover. The shooters are still at large. A Northumberland County juvenile is charged with assaulting an officer.
