Urbanna Town Council Proposes Charter Changes

The Urbanna Town Council wants to make changes to the town charter affecting a number of parliamentary procedures. The Southside Sentinel reports the Council will petition the General Assembly to double the councilor’s 2-year term and stagger term expiration so only 3 of 6 seats are up for election at a time. A separate petition seeks to clarify the mayor’s right to vote on council matters. The GA could take up the petitions during the 2022 session.
