Virginia Faces New Deadline to Fix Unemployment Issues

Labor Day has come and gone and with that is the deadline for the Virginia Employment Commission to resolve a backlog of more than 92,000 unemployment claims needing review. Commission officials say more than 91,000 of these claims were resolved since May when a lawsuit was settled and the Labor Day deadline was set. The Commission is now ordered to meet with legal aid groups before Sept. 25 to make a plan to resolve outstanding unemployment issues.
