Sports betting in Virginia was down in July by about a third from June and according to officials that’s consistent with results across the country. Close to $162 million was wagered last month resulting in almost $142 million in winnings. Since betting began in January Virginians have wagered nearly $1.5 billion and won about $1.36 billion. Tax collections since January are around $9.7 million.
