Virginia students taking the Scholastic Aptitude Test – now known as the SAT – performed better than those in other countries. That news was shared by the Virginia Department of Education which reported that of the nearly 40,000 2021 graduating seniors who took the SAT, 63% either met or exceeded the College Board’s college-readiness benchmarks in both reading and writing, as well as mathematics. Worldwide only 46% meet those levels. Virginia students also had higher SAT scores than the average of all taking the 2021 exam.
