Virginia State Police report that 8 people were killed in motor vehicle accidents over the Labor Day weekend and while that number is less than half what it was in 2020, 4 of the 8 deaths involved motorcyclists and a moped rider was also killed. The department’s Checkpoint Strikeforce operation netted close to 60 DWI arrests across the commonwealth. Over 4,600 speeding tickets were issued with around 400 tickets handed out for seat belt violations.
